Our strength is in our membership! The Alliance of HSI Educators thrives on the commitment and collaboration of its members. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (that’s right, we do what we do with no staff!) and we appreciate your dedication and service to help AHSIE carry out our mission and support the HSI community at large.
We are looking to your wisdom, energy, and expertise to support our work by volunteering to serve as Standing Committee Memberand/or to volunteer as an AHSIE Ambassador Conference Volunteer.
Volunteering with AHSIE is a not only a great way to support the work of the organization, but also a wonderful opportunity to network with your fellow HSI practitioners!
Additionally, if you have interest in running for election to the AHSIE Council in the future, serving on a committee is encouraged and strongly recommended, both to learn about the operations of the organization and to get to know your fellow AHSIE Members.
Time commitment varies for Standing Committee Member activities and AHSIE Ambassador Conference Volunteers. So, whether you’re interested in getting involved on a year-round basis, or have a few day’s availability to review proposals or scholarship applications, or even if you only have a couple of hours during the conference, there is a place for you to help!
Please review the information below to see if being a Committee Member or AHSIE Ambassador is the best fit for you! Active Standing Committee Members and AHSIE Ambassadors who are registered for and attending the conference will be invited to a volunteer recognition luncheon on the last day, Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
As a committee member, you would be committing to the ongoing work of a Standing Committee, including the planning, organization, and implementation of various initiatives.
Standing Committees work throughout the year, and meet on a monthly basis. Some committee work entails ad hoc sub-commitee work, so year-long committment is not necessarily required to support a Committee.
The current AHSIE Standing Committees include:
– Communication and Marketing
– External Relations and Sponsorship
– Finance and Governance
– High Impact Practices and Professional Development – Volunteers needed immediately for reviewing/rating conference proposals!
– Strategic Partnerships and Institutes*
– Student Outreach and Leadership Development – Volunteers needed immediately for reviewing/rating scholarship applications!

The commitment is a minimum of one two-hour blocks during the conference, but of course you can sign up for multiple roles and multiple time blocks! We will hold an Ambassador Orientation on the first day of the conference. Conference registration will open on Friday, October 27, 2017. Be sure to register for the conference before the early bird deadline of January 26, 2018 to get the discounted registration rate!
